 Event: Break the Cycle

What a great day to come out and support our terrific sponsor ParkPoint Health Club with their own support of the YWCA, Break the Cycle. This was a great Community bicycle ride with several different lengths and routes to choose from.

Tim Farnham and his wife Emily and I rode out from Santa Rosa to Windsor Town green were we registered and set off amongst many locals and new riders of every age. As we left, we passed our very own Jim Keene of NorCal Bike Sport/The Bike Peddler, flirting with the locals and fixing bikes with his Shop truck/mechanic wagon. Way to go Jim, thanks for the additional support to Parkpoint and the YWCA.

Tim was on his TT rig and I did my best impression of a man trying to squeeze into a form small enough to draft a pencil, while sitting on his disappearing wheel over hill and dale.

The ride was great with a lot of support and rest stops replete with fruit and drink and PBJ sandwiches.

After about 45 miles we ran into Troy Douglas Newton and a band of his Sonoma County Law Enforcement officers riding as a group. We joined in and rode the rest of the way back to Windsor to find a yummy luncheon awaiting at the finish.

As we tucked into the Windsor town green we got to break in a skills course that had just been laid out on the street in chalk...I think I whooped Tim and Troy but they might tell you otherwise :). Tim did a pretty good job taking the tight corners on his TT bike while in the extensions, allowing Troy to frazzle him with heckling.

We ate a great lunch with DESSERT!! and listened to a pretty darn good High School funk band...

All in all great event and a great turn out. So nice to see so many Sonoma County Law Enforcement folks out on the course with us both as riders and as overseer's! Love having their presence on events like this.

Thank you to ParkPoint Health Club, what a great way to support the YWCA program!
